what a difference a day makes!
In an effort not to be "stuck" with too much vacation time at the end of the year, this year I decided to start taking three day weekends during the slower summer. Last Friday was my first one off, and it was so nice not to have to go in to the office!
Instead, I took Stella to get her summer hair cut at Groomingdale's:
It was hot outside that day and I made her walk back, which is why she's panting. She does seem to be a lot peppier without the extra fur though.
I also worked on the lace leaf pullover. I finally buckled down and tried to kitchener the two sides of the sweater together. It didn't work. So then I brilliantly thought I could just mimic the kitchener without the needles.
That didn't work either--well, it worked, but I ended up twisting all the stitches, somehow,so now there is a very visible line across the middle of the sweater, and I'm faced with the prospect of either keeping it that way and never actually wearing it, or undoing it and starting over. I also blocked the sleeves:
Since then, I've successfully kitchenered one arm to the shoulder, but that's where I stopped. After I stop being mad (maybe tonight will be the night), I'll finish the sleeves and then do the requisite surgery, but I couldn't face it this past weekend, and was worried that if I tried, I would screw it up even worse.
Saturday morning I went to see one of my favorite local bands, The Lonesome Prairie Dogs play in Hamilton Park in JC:
They are so awesome. I wish they'd put out a cd already!
Anyway, after that, I met some of my knitting group to take the light rail over to Hoboken for world-wide Knit in Public Day.
We rounded out the day by going to check out the new space atPatricia's Yarns, the only LYS in our area. Her old store was below street level, but this space is very nice and open. Much closer to the PATH too. I left with some new yarn. I've come to terms with it, I think. I am obviously not capable of resisting, although now that I'm starting to load all my stash into ravelry, I'm remembering why I bought a lot of the stuff I already own, so hopefully I'll start using more of it. After shopping, we had lunch and then made our way back on the train.
Yesterday, I started a stash-busting project. I got this yarn as a present from one of my work friends who doesn't know any better, and although it is pretty ribbon yarn, I don't know what to do with it. I am probably going to make two of these scarves. One to keep and one to give as a christmas present.
All in all, a great, relaxing weekend.

We must determine a clever name for that yarn, because it is really interesting. It is a shame that there's not much you can do with a lot of novelty yarns except a garter stitch scarf.
I am still thinking about Baby Suri.
Oh, and also I updated our blog. Shock of all shocks or whatever.
