ok, so i lied

sigh. So I'm catching up again. But I'm going to try an experiment for July--I'm going to try to post once a day, every day, for the whole month, just to get back into the game, you know?

FO #9: Little Pumpkins socks
little pumpkins socks take 2

These socks were my work-on-at-work socks. They took a lot of time to finish because I only worked on them at lunch. I would get about 4-5 rounds done each day at lunch. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and took them with me on a couple of business trips to finish them up. I've decided that I really don't enjoy knitting patterned socks. They're such a trial! There's usually a huge chart, and perhaps a cable needle, and you have to pay attention. Usually something goes wrong. Witness:

little pumpkins--oops!

I don't know how I made the first one so small, but when I was done, it didn't fit without a lot of squishing of the toes, so I made the second one the right size, and then had to go back and pick out the toe of the first one and extend it by one repeat and then reknit the toe so that they match.

You can really see it there!

Needles: US 1 bamboo dpns
Yarn: Done Roving's Frolicking Feet yarn, cherry pits colorway

I can't tell you how much I LOVE this yarn. I love the colors, I love how soft it is! I definitely want some more of it. I see on Ravelry that lots of people have this yarn or knit with it, but I'd never seen it before when I happened upon it at The Lamb Shoppe, an amazing yarn store in Denver, Colorado. I was feeling really lonely and tired when I found this shop, and it was huge, and full of regulars, and in the back, they were holding a class teaching little kids how to knit. It was so full of life, and everyone was so nice, and when I was there, it was just fall, so the colors were perfect for falling leaves and pumpkins!

Ahh. And I'm such a good daughter, that even though I wanted them, I gave them to my mother for her birthday. And she wore them today! Now I really do have to get more Frolicking Feet!
