oh boy.

Where did that last month go? This summer has been flying by. Obviously my attempt to post every day in July fell by the wayside. I should know better than to give myself guidelines to follow. I just end up avoiding things like that. It's weird--I'm a Taurus, and we don't like to follow directions. Very stubborn... But I also crave structure, so it makes for a very schizophrenic personality. Sorry about that.

Anyway, after Gayle and Edward left, I went to Rochester for a few days for work. The only place I got to visit in Rochester was the graveyard:

Frederick Douglass
This is Frederick Douglass' grave. His wife is buried to the left of his big giant stone. She only has a regular one.

Philander Davis and his wives

Susan B. Anthony's much more modest stone. She was buried beside her sister, whom she lived with for 40 years. I wish I'd had time to go see her house too.

And when I got back from Rochester, my two nieces came up for a few days.

If you ever have to take kids to see a Show, I suggest getting them dressed up. It's so much more fun that way, and it gives the outing a sense of significance that just going in jeans doesn't come close to doing. Of course, they had to bring those damn dolls, but I think everyone, including the dolls, had a good time.

I already miss them...:(

I've been knitting too. Mostly baby stuff, but I'll do a big round up when I get back, because, ladies and gents, I'm on the road again tomorrow--this time for our long-awaited vacation to Berlin. Well, first I have to work for a week, but at least it's in London and Amsterdam. Spanky's going to meet me in Amsterdam, and we're going to go exploring in Germany for a week after that.

I think I'm ready. I have three audio books for the plane, I've loaded up the (inherited, first generation) Kindle with two Sookie Stackhouse novels (these books are really bad, but they're so easy to read that I've been blowing through them at an unholy rate--great reading for stressful times, I guess...), and some work stuff I need to do. Plus, my current knitting projects--the second toe up sock for Spanky, and a great new sweater I'm making for myself. It's a tank top, so no biggie, but I'm pretty excited. I'm using up yarn from the stash that I have been looking at for over a year now, and the pattern is pretty easy, so I don't have to worry about messing it up on the plane or train or whatever.

Awww. I'm glad to be back!
